This is a great site, but google is already working on this! Did anyone ever actually just contact Google to get details? They will be rolling out biking as an option on Google Maps sometime in 2008. This is already planned and being worked on right now.

Hi Richard,

I posted this request originally in the Google Maps Help Group - and I think that is the place you are supposed to ask about new features, etc., but there is no response from Google or others yet. If it is supposed to happen, then it seems to be a well-kept secret.

Of course, all of us would be very happy if this was indeed the case!

I’ll see if we can verify this with Google somehow.

Petition Status

The City of Austin has said there is 'an ongoing effort' with Google to make bicycle directions happen.

Google says 'Thank you, but no new information to share.'

Keep an eye on Ride the City.
